Experiencing a Fulfilled Marriage | Jim Daly

Do you believe that God can save a marriage – any marriage?

Patricia Ashley didn’t always think so. At one time, her marriage to Vernon was dead. She says, “I didn’t love my husband. I didn’t hate him. I wasn’t glad to see him come. I wasn’t glad to see him go. It didn’t make a difference what time he came in or if he came in at all. It was dead.”

They were isolated from each other. They were divorced in almost every way – emotionally, spiritually, and physically. He read his Bible in one room, and she read her Bible in another.

But through God’s grace, Patricia and Vernon’s dead marriage was resurrected, and they enjoyed a happy marriage for over 45 years until his death in 2018.

Patricia is sharing her remarkable testimony on our Focus on the Family Broadcast “Experiencing a Fulfilled Marriage” via a recording of a talk she gave at a women’s conference in Indian Wells, California, several years ago.

No marriage is perfect. The critical question is, “What do you do when problems arise?” Do you lovingly confront your spouse and work through the issue? Or do you ignore the problem and hope it will go away? And if the problem continues, then what?

Patricia has helpful answers to those tough questions. She shares out of her own pain from a marriage that was in terrible trouble and offers ideas you can employ today in your relationship. If your marriage feels dead, Patricia will inspire you to believe that God can bring it back to life.

Our research shows that over the past year, we’ve helped over 100,000 couples throughout North America navigate and survive a major marital crisis. Almost 600,000 couples have built a stronger and more satisfying marriage. Those numbers continue to go up every year thanks to our four-day intensive experience called Hope Restored, where couples who are on the brink of divorce can find healing. We’re proud of this program. It’s spiritual and marital boot camp. And it works. We routinely survey Intensive participants about their experience. Responses to the survey show that roughly 80 percent are still married two years later. The intensives take place in three locations: Branson, MO; Greenville, MI; and the WinShape Retreat Center in Rome, GA. The number for Hope Restored is 1-866-875-2915, or visit online.
